Civil Engineering 6 PDH Credits
100% Board Accepted
Stormwater Management, Urban Runoff & HEC-RAS Hydrologic Modeling
Course Description
Covers advanced hydrology and hydraulics calculations for civil and site development engineers. Learn to calculate design peak discharges using the Rational Method and NRCS TR-55, size detention and retention basins with low-impact development (LID) features, design culverts and spillways, and set up 1D steady and 2D unsteady flow models in USACE HEC-RAS.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this continuing education course, the licensee will be able to:
- Calculate runoff peak flow rates using the Rational Formula, NRCS Curve Number method, and TR-55 unit hydrographs
- Design stormwater retention and wet detention ponds incorporating water quality treatment volumes
- Model open channel river hydraulics and floodplain extents using HEC-RAS 6.x
- Integrate Green Infrastructure and Best Management Practices (BMPs) to meet EPA NPDES Phase II permits
